Frequently asked questions

There is a minimum age requirement of 7 years for all participants. Courses will have a mixed class of children and adults, depending on ability levels. It is generally understood that students would need to have a genuine interest in the activity. Some courses may have different age limits and this will be advised when booking.

In order to speed up the grading process on Monday morning of the summer school we ask that you book the most appropriate class for each participant. Participants will be moved if the content is too easy or too challenging, but to allow classes to begin as soon as possible on the first morning please select based on what level you/your child is playing at now, using the simple criteria in the guide below. Depending on the time schedule for the classes, you are welcome to participate in more than one. For example, many students choose to take music classes in the morning and then singing, dancing or Irish Language classes in the afternoon. The writer's workshop is an all-day class.

Yes, students must provide their own instruments. Scoil Acla may have a small number of instruments available to rent during the Summer School week — all rentals must be booked in advance through the Scoil Acla office.

Due to the high level of demand, booking well in advance is strongly advised. A limited number of course places may be available at registration on the Sunday of the summer school, but cannot be guaranteed.

Check-in takes place on Sunday of the summer school, where participants collect their wristbands and can meet with staff who are on hand to answer any questions. Details on venue and check-in times will be emailed to participants in advance.

Yes, Scoil Acla Summer School is an approved Summer Course for Primary School Teachers. Teachers are asked to register their details when booking, and further details regarding the requirements of the course will be communicated in advance of the summer school.
